How biological products work in practice.
Practical guides to the most common problems: odour, grease, green water and treatment plant operation.
Why a septic tank smells and how to help it
A septic tank works thanks to bacteria. When chemicals, overloading or a long break weaken them, you get odour, floating sludge and a clogged soakaway.
Read the guide →Food industry and cateringGrease in drains and grease traps: what works
Grease in a kitchen drain solidifies, binds food residues and gradually narrows the pipe. Chemicals usually just push it further down.

Algae need nutrients, light and warmth. You can't control the light, but you can control the nutrients.

Biomass is the heart of a treatment plant. A microbial product helps where it is missing or weakened, not where the technology is failing.

All three collect wastewater from the house, but each works differently. That changes how you look after it and which biological product to choose.

Odour from a basin, shower or kitchen sink often has a simple cause: a dried-out trap or organic deposits in the pipe.

Ask a question →Can I combine bacteria with bleach or disinfectant?
Disinfectants kill bacteria. Keep their use to a minimum and dose the biological product at a different time, ideally in the evening.
Will bacteria replace emptying the septic tank or grease trap?
No. They support the breakdown of organic matter and can extend the interval between emptying, but sludge and deposits must still be removed according to the operating rules.
Are the products suitable for a small domestic treatment plant?
Yes. Biowaste Liquid is designed for small domestic treatment plants, and Bioseptik has a separate dosage for them. If problems occur, the technical condition of the plant also needs to be checked.
How should the products be stored?
In a cool, dry place, in a closed container, out of the reach of children. The nitrifying cultures BCL WWTP 01 and 10 must be refrigerated at 4–6 °C. The information on the packaging always applies.
How do I choose a product for a facility?
Send us the type of technology, volume, flow and any available analyses. For facilities, we always determine the dosage based on the specific conditions.
Do you supply shops and produce under private label?
Yes. Wholesale partnership, export and private-label production are described on the page for trade partners. For trade partners →
