Waste water treatment plant

Wastewater treatment plants

One aspect that is very often overlooked in the start-up of wastewater treatment plants, and at the same time forms the basis of the entire system, is biomass. In many cases, due to delays in the construction of wastewater treatment plants, there is very little time left to start up the biological operation. For these reasons, it is important that the creation of healthy, efficient biomass can happen as quickly as possible.

Typically, sludge imported from other facilities is used to start up municipal systems. However, there are many drawbacks associated with this option of starting a biological process (health, safety, composition, transportation costs). In these cases, however, problems are often transferred from the original facilities to the new facilities.

What is BCL WWTP?

BCL WWTP is a product composed of carefully selected mixtures of natural microorganisms that have the ability to effectively break down organic materials in municipal wastewater. A large number of strains have been specifically selected for their ability to produce the wide range of enzymes needed to fully degrade organic matter. These strains grow at a rapid rate so that they can establish a very efficient population in a short time. The product contains strains that have the ability to form a structure that gives excellent results at the outlets of wastewater treatment plants. When sludge is reactivated, the bacterial strains contained in BCL WWTP work in harmony with the original biomass, resulting in increased treatment plant efficiency in a very short time.

Types of systems where BCL WWTP may be useful:

  • activated sludge,
  • aerated lagoons,
  • sequential batch reactors,
  • oxidation ditches,
  • rotating biological carriers,
  • different variations of wastewater treatment plants.

Examples of the use of BCL WWTP:

  • starting up the biological operation of wastewater treatment plants,
  • shock recovery of the biodegradation process,
  • reactivation.
The product harnesses the power of natural biotechnology to rapidly adjust biomass to be able to break down the organic components of municipal wastewater. BCL WWTP uses harmless, natural microorganisms that very efficiently break down organic material into CO2 and H2O.

Application

The product is supplied inoculated on a cereal carrier, so it is important that the bacteria are rehydrated before use. This is achieved by adding the required amount of product to lukewarm water (~30°C). Add 1 part product to 10 parts water, mix well and allow to stand for 1 hour before application. Apply the product thus prepared directly to the aerated portion of the system. As each application is individual and has different requirements, it is usually necessary to assess the dosing programme individually. The Engineering Department provides assistance in assessing this site and developing dosing programs.

Product safety

The microorganisms contained in BCL Farm have all been isolated from the natural environment. They have not been genetically modified in any way. These microbial strains have been classified as harmless to humans, animals and plants. The product has been verified by the State Institute of Health in Prague.
